Abstract

On December 26, 2004, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1 to 9.3 rocked off the northwest coast of Sumatra Island. This earthquake triggered a tsunami that hit the coast of Aceh with devastating force, claiming 230,000 lives and leaving extraordinary damage. This article examines this tragedy, describing the horror of the tsunami waves, the panic of residents, and the destruction it caused. This article also examines the impact of watching documentary videos about the 2004 Aceh tsunami tragedy on students. The video awakens fear of Allah Almighty and encourages reflection on the meaning of life. Students felt fear and sadness when they saw this tragedy, and were inspired to increase their obedience to Allah SWT, and become more grateful and caring individuals towards others. This abstract describes the 2004 Aceh tsunami tragedy, the influence of documentary videos about this tragedy on students, and the valuable lessons that can be learned from this tragic event. It is hoped that this abstract will provide an initial overview of the contents of the article and attract readers' interest in studying it further.
